Management of Anaphylaxis

Duration  – 1 days (6 hours)

This 1 day Management of Anaphylaxis first aid course course will teach learners how to identify, treat and stabilise a casualty suffering with Anaphylactic Shock. This has the potential to save a life and prepares the individual to be confident in dealing with a medical emergency and the use of auto-injectors and CPR.

Aims

The course is ideally suited as an add-on to our Paediatric and First Aid at Work courses but can also be presented In-House on a stand-alone basis and is for anyone who works with or looks after children, first aiders who may have to deal with people prone to Anaphylaxis, such as in schools, and anyone seeking to widen their first aid skills and knowledge.

Course Objectives

This 1 day course includes course materials, expert tutoring and practical exercises to give learners in-depth training in how to treat children with the following illnesses or injuries:

  • Allergy Avoidance
  • Early Recognition of Anaphylaxis
  • Anaphylactic Shock Awareness
  • Management of Anaphylactic Shock
  • Practical session using auto-injectors in training devices
  • Resuscitation (CPR) and Recovery Position

Assessment and Certification

Practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor on the day, along with a written assessment. A Management of Anaphylaxis Certificate will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.

This qualification is valid for 3 years.
